Open call for a CNRS Junior Professor Chair

Physics and Engineering of Epitaxial Materials and Heterostructures (EPIMAT)

 

CNRS has opened a call for Junior Professor Chair (CPJ) on the Physics and Engineering of Epitaxial Materials and Heterostructures.

C2N, one of the possible host laboratories for the EPIMAT Chair, is renowned for its expertise and decades of experience in epitaxy of semiconductors. Our research is driven by the exploration of new materials and novel concepts in materials science, with applications in photonics, nanoelectronics, and quantum technologies. For example, over the last years, we have developed activities in topological insulators, and hybrid structures, such as superconductors or ferromagnetic materials epitaxially integrated with semiconductor heterostructures.

The laboratory provides an exceptional research environment, including a large-scale cleanroom with cutting-edge nanoprocessing equipments and a wide range of structural characterization tools.

Our research thrives on strong internal collaborations, and our epitaxy expertise forms the foundation of many national and international partnerships.

We are seeking candidates with a solid background in epitaxy and condensed matter physics. The candidates should propose an advanced, original and ambitious project that leverages this unique environment.

CNRS Position Summary

Candidates must propose a research project in line with the priorities of one of the three host laboratories: CRHEA in Valbonne, C2N in Palaiseau, and IEMN in Lille. The research project must demonstrate originality and the ability to advance the state of the art in the epitaxial synthesis of semiconductor and/or topological materials of different dimensionalities, and contribute to the emergence of new application concepts in microelectronics, photonics, and quantum technologies.

 

CNRS Junior Professor Chair

This position is offered as fixed-term public law contracts (CDD) lasting between 3 to 6 years. From the start, this contract provides dedicated financial resources and includes teaching activities at a higher education institution. Following an evaluation of scientific merit and professional aptitude by a tenure committee, successful candidates will be eligible for a permanent position as a Research Director at the CNRS.

 

Compensation and Benefits

•          Gross annual salary ranging from €54,600 to €57,800, depending on professional experience.

•          Total Funding €200,000

•          Annual Leave and RTT 44 days

•          Remote work practice and compensation available

•          Transport: 75% coverage of transport costs and a sustainable mobility allowance of up to €300
