This is the major result of collaborative work carried out between CEA-Leti, SPINTEC, and C2N, which has just been published in Nature Communications.
Instead of separating memory and processing as in conventional computers, the researchers combined two complementary nanotechnologies on a single component to create a new optimization processor (an Ising machine).
What these results show:
- The voltage used to read the memory helps regulate the computation to find the best solution.
- The system operates at room temperature and without a magnetic field.
A major breakthrough for the design of compact, fast, and energy-efficient hardware accelerators.
