A startup of C2N is awarded a Grand prix i-LAB for the second year in a row!

The startup Spin-Ion Technologies, co-founded by Dafiné Ravelosona, CNRS Senior Researcher and Deputy Director at C2N, was awarded with one of the 10 Grands Prix of the French national competition to support the creation of innovative technology companies "i-LAB 2019" from the hands of Frédérique Vidal, French Minister of Higher Education and Research.

The start-up Spin-Ion Technologies provides an answer to the challenge of the digital transformation. It has developped an innovative process to be integrated on the production lines of MRAMs (Magnetic Random Access Memory), a new memory with the potential to replace all existing memories that reach their limits.

The solution is based on the use of a specific ion beam to treat ultra-thin magnetic films in order to improve their structural properties. The performance of MRAMs, which use these materials, are thus increased. Spin-Ion Technologies has initiated partnerships with several global industry leaders in the development of MRAMs and related equipments.

The Grand Prix i-Lab is accompanied by a significant R&D funding. This grant will allow Spin-Ion Technologies to accelerate the process of maturing technology towards industrialization.

In 2018, the startup Quandela, another spin-off of C2N had already received a Grand Prix i-LAB.

The i-Lab Innovation Competition is organized by the French Minister of Higher Education and Research in partnership with Bpifrance. Its objective is to detect innovative business creation projects in deep tech and support the best to accelerate their development. In 2019, the i-Lab competition, funded by the Ministry and funded by the Innovation and Industry Fund, will help to launch start-up companies in deep tech up to 20 million euros.
