Light, which travels at around 300,000 kilometers per second (3 × 10⁸ m/s), has become an invaluable tool for transmitting data at very high speeds. Thanks to optical fibers, it travels around the world and forms the heart of the Internet. To exploit this speed, we use photonic chips, tiny components capable of directing light inside very thin circuits. These chips work a bit like electronic circuits, but instead of electricity, they use light to process information. If you'd like to learn more about these concepts, or if you'd like to deepen your knowledge, come to the C2N stand on Sunday afternoon June 15 and meet Sarra Salhi and Jian Ciao, who will be presenting the progress of their research.
The Double Science festival is a free festival for all, dedicated to scientific mediation in all its forms, with numerous events scheduled over the eek-end: https://www.festivaldoublescience.fr
