Making nanodevices energy-autonomous

How can we power ever-smaller devices—such as miniaturized sensors or medical implants—without relying on an external energy source? To meet this challenge, researchers are exploring the properties of materials at the nanoscale.

The ANR SCENIC project is part of this effort. Its goal is to gain a better understanding of how electrical charges behave at the surface of semiconductor nanowires, in order to control them more precisely.

At C2N, CNRS researcher Noëlle Gogneau fabricates and studies these nanowires, whose properties change dramatically at very small scales. She coordinated the SCENIC project from 2021 to 2024, in collaboration with several French laboratories with complementary expertise.
